SONIA BELMONT |
Quite possibly the mother of Trevor Belmont,
and first Belmont to challenge the ambitious, malevolent and
newly-vampirised Count Vlad Dracula. It was the Middle Ages in
Transylvanian Romania, the fifteenth century. Upon his mortal
death in 1476, the slain voivode Prince of Wallachia,
even in death, came into possession of an evil power, and the
Prince of Darkness was born. Before long, this being used his
new-found supernatural powers and the magic powers of his followers
to spread his plague of darkness and despair throughout Romania
and the European continent. He
was Count Dracula. Even to mention the name of this Prince of
Darkness was to cast fear into the hearts of he people in the
land, who were powerless to do anything save voice their concern.
However, at about the same time a baby girl possessing special
powers was born to a family living in a remote area of the country.
"Your powers are meant for a higher purpose and not only
for yourself," she was often reminded as she was growing
up. The plot of this girl's fate began to develop one night in
her seventeenth year when she met up with the young, enigmatic
Alucard, who was on a journey to search for the father that deserted
him in spirit. This young woman was the first of the Belmont
family to leave her name to posterity as a vampire hunter. She
was taught how to handle a whip by her grandfather and learned
at an early age of her ability to sense the presense of beings
physical and spiritual that cannot be seen by ordinary humans.
On her adventure, which took place in early 1482, she
also was indeed tested by Alucard, the forgotten son of Dracula,
who was still under the servitude of his father, in order to
pass on to Sonia his own hope of slaying his father Count Dracula,
Alucard lurks somewhere in Dracula's castle, waiting for the
fateful day when he must rise to his final test. From a perhaps
union with Alucard, she gave birth to Trevor C. Belmont in late
1482. Some time later after the birth of Trevor, her fellow
townspeople began to fear the Belmont Clans
uncanny, seemingly supernatual, powers as perhaps a result of
Alucards 1/4 vampiric influence
in the child (CastleVania Legends). |
|
TREVOR C. BELMONT |
|
( AKA : "Ralph"
Belmont in the Japanese Demon Castle Dracula series )
The Belmont to follow
in Sonias footsteps; evidently
her and Alucards son. A resident of
Warakiya Village, Trevor and his family were exiled when the
other residents fear of their uncanny
powers reached a boiling point. When Count Dracula returned from
his defeat at Sonias hands and engulfed
Europe in a renewed maelstrom of his army of undead in 1499,
Trevor returned to answer their pleas despite his banishment,
challenging the evil of the King of Vampires at the young age
of 17 bearing weapons he received and skills he honed from the
Poltergeist King. Teaming with the "spirit helpers"
Sypha Belnades, Grant DaNasty, and even Alucard, whom he befriended,
he accomplished this and restored honor and respect to the Belmont
name and clan (CastleVania III: Draculas Curse). A vampire Trevor imposter later confronted Alucard
in 1792 (CastleVania: Symphony of the Night). |
|
CHRISTOPHER BELMONT |
The Belmont warrior to follow in Trevors footsteps, and likely the great-grandson of Simon.
In 1576 he first fought Dracula when the vampire manifested
himeslf 100 years after Trevors first confrontation
with him, hunting him to his castle and slaying him. Though CastleVania
did crumble, it seemed Dracula merely turned into mist (The
CastleVania Adventure). Fifteen years later in 1591
he was again forced to battle Dracula when, on his ceremonial
rite of passage for which the title of vampire hunter was to
be passed from father to son, Soleiyu Belmont (Christophers son) became possessed by a demon-spirit and fled
to Draculas aid as four castles
mysteriously appeared. Christopher finished the job in his rematch
with Dracula and rescued Soleiyu (CastleVania II: Belmonts Revenge). |
|
SIMON BELMONT |
One of the most recognized Belmonts to
emerge from the Belmont Clan, Simons exploits have become
even more legendary than those of his ancestors. When the townspeople
of Transylvania sought his aid when Dracula rose from the grave
100 years after Christopher Belmont defeated him, Simon came
and struck the vampire down in 1691 when the Count captured
his bride-to-be, Linda Entwhistle (Vampire Killer). He
made a second trip to Draculas CastleVania the same
year when the Counts veil of evil was not
lifted from Transylvania and he did not rescue his bride-to-be.
He found and slew the vampire (CastleVania). He soon realized
his folly: he didnt burn Draculas remains. And so a third quest began a year later
in 1692, forcing him to gather Draculas
body parts and fight him again in the remnants of his castle
to end the curse and at last rescue Linda (CastleVania II:
Simons Quest). Even after completing
his task, the cult followers of Dracula quickly resurrected their
master soon afterward, forcing Simon to confront Dracula a fourth
and final time (Super CastleVania IV). |
|
JUSTE BELMONT |
Son
(or perhaps grandson) of the legendary Simon Belmont, Juste (pronounced
Joost) is sent into CastleVania once again to save his friends
Maxim and Lydie from the resurrected Count Dracula in the year 1748.
Apparently having inherited some of the magic abilities from his
ancestor Sypha, Juste can combine his special weapons with magic spells,
in addition to the traditional whip (CastleVania: Harmony of
Dissonance). |
|
MAXIM
KISHINE |
A close friend and closer rival of
Juste Belmont's, in the year 1748 Maxim
helps Juste in his search for Lydie. He is a headstrong and brave man -
unfortunately, that it also his tragic flaw. Unlike the traditional
vampire hunter, Maxim wields a sword and a powerful shuriken-type blade
weapon. He's also incredibly agile, and possess a triple-jump ability.
During the adventure, once inside in the castle, Maxim begins to act
funny - in his jealousy, could he be conspiring against the Belmonts? It
is discovered that Maxim tried to recover the body parts of Dracula
burned by Simon in order to prove his worth as a Vampire Hunter, and
ended up being possessed by Dracula, and kidnapped Lydie so he could
resurrect once again before Juste put a stop to the plot (CastleVania:
Harmony of Dissonance). |
|
RICHTER BELMONT |
 The
likely son of Juste Belmont and the
eventual husband of Annet Renard. In 1788 Richter had
to fight his way through another wave of Draculas
minions to save his girlfriend Annet, and her sister, Maria,
then deal with the Count himself (Dracula X: The Circle of
Blood). A short time later, when a dark priest named Shaft
and a group of depraved individuals resurrected Dracula again,
the vampire again kidnapped Annet and Maria, forcing a rematch
with Richter (CastleVania: Dracula X). Four years after
a third confrontation with Dracula the same year (between which
time he married his fiance, Annet Renard), he later disappeared
in 1792 when going after the Count a fourth time, falling
under the possession of the dark priest, Shaft. When Alucard
was then forced to take his place, Richter unwittingly fought
him until Alucard brought him out of his spell (CastleVania:
Symphony of the Night). |
|
ALUCARD |
|
( real name : Adrian
Fahrenheights Tepes )
Alucard (or "Dracula"
spelled backwards), is the long lost son of the Count Dracula
and Ilona Elisabeth ("Lisa") Szilagy, the cousin of
Matthius Corvinus, the King of Hungary for a long reign beginning
in 1463. The brother of Vlad Dracula IV (a claimant to
the Wallachian throne) and the half-brother of Mihnea "the
Bad" Dracula. He is also said to have been the consort of
Sonia Belmont, and, as such, the father of Trevor Belmont. Romanian
history does record the existence of a mysteriously "unknown-named"
child of Vlad Dracula and Ilona Szilágy that died in 1482
of an unknown ailment after living with the Bishop of Oradea.
It could then be conjectured that his father, already having
died as a mortal in 1476 and already having become a vampire,
vampirised his son to join him in his crusade against humanity.
Sonia Belmont was the first to confront him in 1482, and
she passed his test on the way to the Belmont Clans first victorious confrontation with his father,
though it was only that: a test. It is said that Sonia and Alucard
then became lovers, and Alucard fathered a son by her, Trevor
(CastleVania Legends). Although he did serve his father
against his son, Trevor Belmont, as well, he was soon convinced
that spreading his fathers evil was wrong, and
joined Trevor in his fight in 1499 (CastleVania III:
Draculas Curse). After helping Trevor
slay his father, Alucard put himself into a three centuries-long
slumber, awakening to challenge Dracula a second time after the
disappearance of Richter Belmont in 1792 (CastleVania:
Symphony of the Night). Though Alucard is only half vampire,
immune to sunlight and other vampire weaknesses, he can transform
into a bat, a wolf, and mist, and harness nearly all the other
powers at his fathers disposal.

NATHAN GRAVES |
When a countess named Camilla is raising Dracula
from the dead in 1830, the vampire hunting master of Nathan and his
embittered rival, Hugh Baldwin, becomes kidnapped. With his rival, Hugh
embarks on a quest to stop the Countess from resurrecting Dracula and
rescue his master (CastleVania
: Circle of the Moon). |
|
HUGH BALDWIN |
When a countess named Camilla is raising Dracula
from the dead in 1830, the vampire hunting master of Hugh and his rival,
Nathan Graves, becomes kidnapped. With his rival, Hugh embarks on a
quest to stop the Countess from resurrecting Dracula and rescue his
master (CastleVania :
Circle of the Moon). |
|
CORNELL |
|
( real name : "Blue
Crescent Moon" )
One of the last man-beasts,
choosing to live in harmony with the humans and sealing away
his powers to prevent them from being used. After months of intense
ascetic training that enabled him the art of releasing these
powers, Cornell returned to his Romanian home village in 1844
only to see it ravaged by the resurrected Count Dracula's lackeys.
With the blood of the man-beast flowing his veins, Cornell sets
off to avenge the townspeople and find his adopted sister Ada.
Cornell's attack consists of a strong, far-reaching blade that
emerges from his claws. He can also turn into a werewolf at will,
which instantly boosts his power at any given time (CastleVania:
Legacy of Darkness). |
|
HENRY
OLDREY |
When Cornell first encountered
young Henry Oldrey in 1844, he was under attack by the
minions of Dracula that had overrun the villa of his father and
mother, J.A. and Mary Oldrey. Though he made it away safely,
he mourned over the loss of his vampirized father, turned into
vampire, and his mother, surely dead. Henry later met up with
Cornell again and they lived together for a time with Cornell
as his father figure. Henry eventually became a soldier, working
for the church. When news arrived of children locked within the
Transylvanian CastleVania's gates in 1852, Henry was called
upon by the church to retrieve the children. With a full suit
of armor and wielding a six-shot pistol, now at age 18, he had to find
six children in six areas in seven days. Since Henry had once
lived there, it was easy for him to find all the children before
the seventh day was up and CastleVania sank into the lake (CastleVania:
Legacy of Darkness). |
|
REINHARDT SCHNEIDER |
Another descendant of the Belmont Clan.
In the midst of the year 1852, from his village of Walkia,
Transylvania, Reinhardt Schneider learned of an unexpected resurrection
of Count Dracula. Taking on the Belmont responsibility of keeping
Dracula down, Reinhardt made his way to CastleVania and confronted
the Count with the help of Carrie Fernandez at age 25. "Some
day, you may have no choice except to fight," were Michael
Gelhart's, Reinhardt's father's, last words. After Michael passed
away, Reinhardt accepted his destiny to be a vampire killer,
and trained daily in the mountains of his homeland. As the 10th
year of training approached its end, incidents of monsters attacking
children lost in the woods increased. Reinhardt sensed that the
increased activity was a sign of the return of the Dark Lord
and traveled down from the mountain to face his destiny. He sought
out the Priest Samuel, the only one who remembered the past,
the only one who could undo the seal on the symbol of the Vampire
Killer, the ancestral holy whip. With weapon in hand, he was
a figure of justice from the Belmont family, however, the reality
of the man is an individual of deep responsibility, silent and
cool, where underneath a heart burns with fighting spirit. After
his quest, he found love with the former vampiress Rosa, her
curse lifted from her with Dracula's vanquishment (CastleVania
[64]). |
|
CARRIE FERNANDEZ |
A
12 year old girl, a descendant of Sypha Belnades and an ancient
Spanish family travelling throughout Europe, who assisted Reinhardt
Schneider in his quest to stop the latest incarnation of Dracula
in 1852. She was born with destructive power, a girl with
psychic powers. Her family was rumored to have great magic in
the form of a magic orb, however this could never be proven.
Though, there were stories of a travelling group that had great
success in repelling marauding of their wagon train, human and
otherwise. This success was not to last however, when the Patriarchal
figurehead of the Fernadez family came under the curse of Dracula
and virtually obliterated the family. The survivors fled and
were thought to have disappeared. Years later, an orphaned child
was found to have a talent for magic. Carrie is physically slender
and fragile looking, however, within her lies great power that
can destroy even the greatest of monsters. When she was younger,
Carrie used her powers in harmless pranks and fun, like having
several balls of light float around in the air or at times, making
flowers bloom in the dead of winter. However, with the rumors
of the return of the dark lord panicking the land, the strange
powers of Carrie appeared to have a sinister cast to them in
the eyes of the people. Carrie's mother devotedly tried to protect
Carrie, but was labeled a witch herself and was killed right
before Carrie's eyes. She abandoned the God that could or would
not help her beautiful and kind mother. She also hardened her
heart not to ever forgive the adults that could have done this.
Several years later, with the awakening of Count Dracula in her
era, she felt a similarity in their special powers and set out
for CastleVania (CastleVania [64]). |
|
QUINCEY P. MORRIS |
A wealthy Texan, descendant of the Belmont
Clan, brother of Alexander, and father of John Morris. A suitor
of the beautiful Lucy Westenra, he hoped to win her love. After
Count Dracula bewitched and vampirised her in 1897 (forcing
her execution), Quincey joined Jonathan Harker, Professor Abraham
Van Helsing, and Doctor Jack Seward in their joint quest to slay
the vampire and save Mina Harker, Jonathans
wife. In the end he played an invaluable role, plunging his bowie
knife into the Counts heart before dying
from the wounds he suffered from Draculas
army of gypsies (Bram Stokers Dracula novel). |
|
JOHN MORRIS |
The son of Quincey Morris, the valiant
Texan that lost his life when Dracula was killed in 1897
and a descendant of the Belmont Clan. At two years of age he
witnessed his fathers final battle from the
shadows. A second generation American, he knew that he must uphold
his familys tradition and destroy
the Countess Bartley when she tried to resurrect Dracula in 1917.
Teaming with Eric Lecarde he accomplished this, defeating Bartley
and then the Count himself when she succeeded in resurrecting
him. An adventurer at heart, John then searched for new challenges
(CastleVania: Bloodlines). |
|
ERIC LECARDE |
A childhood friend of John Morris, born
in Segovia, Spain. Beside John, Eric, too, witnessed the grim
final battle between Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and Quincey
P. Morris as a toddler in 1897. Eric set off with John
to destroy Dracula in 1917 for the primary reason that
the love of his life, Gwendolyn, had been turned into a vampire
by the Countess Bartley. Quick and agile, he used his alcarde
spear to assist his friend in the completion of their Europe-spanning
mission. At the completion of their task, he set his sights on
unknown ventures and endeavors (CastleVania: Bloodlines). |
